Hyundai has introduced the updated Verna sedan in India with prices starting at ₹10.98 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing a range of design tweaks, new technology and expanded safety features to its mid-size sedan.

The new Verna is available with both 1.5-litre MPi petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engines, offered across multiple trims. The standout is the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi engine producing 160 PS and 253 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Prices start at ₹10.98 lakh for the base HX2 variant, while the HX8 variant with the MPi engine is priced at ₹14.88 lakh. The automatic IVT versions go up to ₹17.15 lakh for the top-spec HX10 trim. For buyers seeking more performance, the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi variant is available from ₹16.28 lakh (HX8 manual), with the range-topping HX10 turbo DCT priced at ₹18.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Inside, Hyundai has focused heavily on technology. The sedan features dual 10.25-inch displays for infotainment and the digital instrument cluster, along with wireless smartphone connectivity, a Bose eight-speaker audio system and over 70 connected car features via Hyundai Bluelink.

Safety has also been expanded. The Verna now offers Level-2 Hyundai SmartSense ADAS, seven airbags, surround-view monitoring and blind-spot view monitoring among more than 75 safety features available across the lineup

Hyundai has also refreshed the exterior with a black chrome radiator grille, dual LED projector headlamps and diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the interior gets upgrades like a D-cut steering wheel, powered seats and a rear sunshade.

While SUVs continue to dominate the Indian market, Hyundai clearly believes there is still room for a well-equipped sedan. The new Verna aims to keep the segment relevant by combining strong performance with a feature-rich cabin and advanced driver assistance systems.

With this update, Hyundai is positioning the Verna as one of the most technology-packed sedans in its class, continuing to compete with rivals such as the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
