Volvo–Eicher Invests ₹5 Crore in VNR VJIET Skill Centre

Volvo–Eicher (VE Commercial Vehicles Limited) has made a major long-term investment in automotive education by setting up a Regional Competency Development Centre at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VNR VJIET), Hyderabad. The initiative, backed by an investment of ₹5 crore, underlines growing industry demand for job-ready engineering talent with hands-on exposure to modern vehicle systems and diagnostics.

Inaugurated at the institute’s E Block, the Centre has been established for an initial 10-year period, with provision for renewal. It will serve as a dedicated training hub for Eicher employees and dealer personnel from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, while also offering practical training opportunities for students and faculty from Automobile, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics disciplines.

The new facility features a comprehensive industry-grade training ecosystem, including three diesel vehicles, one electric vehicle, cut-section models of key automotive systems, and advanced automobile/electrical diagnostic boards. This setup allows learners to work directly on real vehicles, strengthening technical competence in both conventional and EV technologies.

Institute leadership described the Centre as a strong endorsement of VNR VJIET’s industry-aligned approach to education. Volvo–Eicher also confirmed its intent to hire students from the Automobile Engineering department and encouraged greater participation of female students in future recruitment.

With this partnership, VNR VJIET further reinforces its standing as a nationally recognised institution supporting India’s evolving commercial vehicle and electric mobility ecosystem.
