The MINI Cooper Electric has been named Euro NCAP Best in Class for Safest City & Supermini of the Year 2025, reinforcing its position as one of the safest electric cars in the small-car segment.

The award follows the model’s five-star Euro NCAP rating, which it received in March 2025. According to Euro NCAP, the Cooper Electric performed strongly across multiple safety categories, including adult occupant protection, child safety, pedestrian protection and driver assistance systems.

In the 2025 crash tests, the electric MINI scored 89 per cent for adult occupant protection, 87 per cent for child occupant safety, 79 per cent for safety assist technologies, and 77 per cent for pedestrian and cyclist protection — high figures for the city and supermini class.

The current electric MINI Cooper range includes the Cooper E, Cooper SE, and the John Cooper Works Electric, all of which share a common safety package. Standard equipment includes multiple airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, electronic stability systems and a suite of driver assistance features designed for urban driving.

Euro NCAP highlighted improvements in both passive and active safety systems, as well as the integration of technologies aimed at reducing collision risk in city environments. The organisation noted that these systems play an increasingly important role as electric vehicles become more common in dense urban areas.

With this latest recognition, the MINI Cooper Electric joins other MINI models that have also achieved top Euro NCAP ratings, underlining the brand’s continued focus on safety alongside compact design and electric mobility.
