Tata Motors has launched an updated version of the Tata Punch, introducing new powertrain options, additional features and a revised safety package. Prices for the updated Punch start at ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Since its introduction in 2021, the Punch has emerged as one of India’s highest-selling vehicles, with Tata Motors stating that close to 700,000 units have been sold so far. The latest update builds on that success with a wider range of choices aimed at urban and first-time SUV buyers.

New Powertrain Options

The biggest change comes under the bonnet. The Punch is now offered with a 1.2-litre turbocharged iTurbo petrol engine, giving buyers a more powerful option within the subcompact SUV segment. Tata Motors claims the engine delivers a strong power-to-weight ratio, aimed at improving both city performance and highway drivability.

In a segment-first move, the Punch is also available with twin-cylinder iCNG technology paired with an AMT gearbox. This setup is designed to offer the efficiency benefits of CNG while retaining the convenience of an automatic transmission and usable boot space.

Feature and Technology Updates

The updated Punch adds several comfort and technology features that were previously unavailable on the model. These include a 26.03 cm HD infotainment system, a 65W Type-C USB charger, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, a 360-degree surround-view camera, auto-dimming IRVM and an air purifier.

Tata has also introduced practical updates such as a rear armrest, smart digital steering wheel controls and 90-degree door opening, aimed at improving everyday usability.

Safety Remains a Key Focus

Safety continues to be a core focus for the Punch. The SUV carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold and hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring and three-point seatbelts for all occupants as standard.

Positioning in the Market

With petrol, turbo-petrol and CNG options now on offer, the Tata Punch expands its appeal in the competitive subcompact SUV segment. The updated range allows buyers to prioritise performance, efficiency or convenience, while retaining the model’s strong safety credentials.
