MG Motor India Launches the New Hector, Prices Start at ₹11.99 Lakh

MG Motor India has launched the updated MG Hector in India, with prices starting at ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The latest iteration of the SUV brings noticeable design revisions, interior updates and new technology features, while continuing with the existing powertrain options.

The Hector, first introduced in 2019, remains one of MG’s highest-selling models in the Indian market, and this update appears focused on refreshing the SUV’s styling and in-cabin experience rather than making mechanical changes.

Updated Exterior Design

The new Hector gets a revised front and rear design, headlined by MG’s new Aura Hex grille, which replaces the outgoing grille design. The SUV also features redesigned Aura Sculpt bumpers and a fresh set of Aura Bolt alloy wheels, aimed at giving the vehicle a more upright and assertive stance.

MG has also introduced two new exterior colour options — Celadon Blue and Pearl White — expanding the Hector’s existing colour palette.

Interior Changes and Seating Options

Inside, the Hector now offers updated interior colour themes based on seating configuration.

5-seater variants get a Dual Tone Ice Grey theme

6- and 7-seater variants feature a Dual Tone Urban Tan layout

The cabin also gets new gloss-finish trim elements, fabric seat inserts and optional leather upholstery. Comfort-focused additions include ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver seat, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, and revised dashboard and door trims.

Infotainment and Technology Updates

One of the key highlights of the new Hector is the updated infotainment system. The SUV continues with its 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, now powered by what MG calls Smart Boost technology, which is intended to improve processing speed and system responsiveness.

A new feature introduced on the Hector is i-SWIPE Touch Gesture Control, which allows multi-finger swipe inputs for functions such as climate control, audio and navigation — a first for the segment.

Other technology features include:

  • Digital Bluetooth Key with key-sharing functionality

  •
  • Predictive maintenance alerts

  •
  • Remote AC control

  •
  • Fully digital instrument cluster with a 17.78 cm embedded LCD screen

Safety and Powertrain

On the safety front, the Hector continues to offer features such as:

  • ABS with EBD

  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

  • Traction Control System (TCS)

  • Hill Hold Control

  • Brake Assist

  • 360-degree HD camera with wheel-view

Power comes from the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 143 PS and 250 Nm, paired with either a manual or CVT gearbox. MG has confirmed that diesel variants will be introduced in 2026.

Positioning in the Segment

With this update, the MG Hector continues to position itself as a technology-heavy midsize SUV, focusing on cabin space, digital features and comfort. While the mechanical package remains unchanged, the updated design and new infotainment features are expected to help the Hector stay competitive in a segment that now includes newer rivals with more advanced driver assistance and electrified options.
