Tata Motors has fired a major shot across the bows of India’s commercial vehicle industry with the launch of its next-generation portfolio of 17 trucks spanning 7 to 55 tonnes. Designed around the themes of Safety, Profitability and Progress, the new line-up brings together the all-new Azura series, extensive upgrades for the Prima, Signa and Ultra platforms, and a big push toward electrification with the Tata Trucks.ev brand.
A key highlight is the introduction of Azura, positioned as a fresh, modern solution for the intermediate and light commercial vehicle (ILMCV) segment. Available in 7 to 19-tonne configurations, Azura is powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine aimed at delivering best-in-class performance and efficiency. Tata Motors is also focusing on driver comfort with an all-new walkthrough cabin, D+2 seating layout, reclining seats and improved utility space—features intended to reduce fatigue in high-usage logistics roles.
On the safety front, Tata Motors claims a landmark leap by upgrading its portfolio to meet ECE R29 03 crash safety standards. These cabins are engineered for frontal, rollover and side-impact protection, complemented by up to 23 India-specific active safety technologies, including systems like lane departure warning and collision mitigation. The brand’s Fleet Edge connected platform adds real-time driver behaviour monitoring for higher on-road safety.
