Nissan Reveals Gravite Nameplate, Confirms India-Focused SUV Strategy

Drumil ModiNews2 months ago

Nissan has officially revealed the name of its upcoming SUV, Gravite, outlining key details about the product and the brand’s broader roadmap for India. The Gravite will be a seven-seat SUV, designed and developed specifically for the Indian market, and is scheduled to go on sale in March 2026.

The company described the Gravite as a “modern artform on four wheels”, with a lean, muscular design that reflects core Nissan design DNA. Built using Japanese engineering but manufactured entirely in India, the Gravite will follow a “Made in India, Made for India” approach, while also catering to export markets.

Launch Timeline and Product Roadmap

The Gravite will be officially unveiled in January 2026, ahead of its market launch in March. Nissan confirmed that pricing details will be shared closer to the launch, with no announcements made at the name reveal event.

Beyond the Gravite, Nissan outlined a structured rollout plan for upcoming products. A Nissan Tekton brand resurgence event is scheduled for February 2026, while an additional new model is expected to arrive in early 2027. According to the company, these launches have been deliberately spaced out to ensure each product receives adequate attention in the market.

Focus on Safety and Network Expansion

Nissan reiterated that safety remains a core pillar of its product philosophy, especially for Indian buyers who place increasing importance on safety ratings. The company stated it will not compromise on safety standards, positioning its vehicles as reliable options for everyday family use.

The brand also confirmed plans to significantly expand its retail presence, aiming to grow its dealership network to up to 250 outlets by the end of 2026. Nissan added that it will build on the brand equity created by the Magnite, which has attracted a large number of first-time buyers, to strengthen its position in the Indian market.
