Hyundai CRETA Records Highest-Ever Annual Sales in 2025
Hyundai Motor India has reported its strongest-ever annual sales performance for the CRETA, with the mid-size SUV crossing 2,00,000 units sold in the 2025 calendar year. This marks the highest annual volume achieved by the model since its launch.
According to the company, the figure translates to an average of around 550 units sold per day over the year. The CRETA has also remained the best-selling SUV in India on a cumulative basis over the last five years.
Segment Leadership and Buyer Trends
Hyundai stated that the CRETA holds a market share of over 34 per cent in the mid-size SUV segment. The model completed 10 years in India in 2025 and has recorded a compound annual growth rate of over 9 per cent between 2016 and 2025.
The company also highlighted a shift in buyer demographics. The share of first-time buyers has increased from 13 per cent in 2020 to 32 per cent in 2025. Feature preferences have also evolved, with sunroof-equipped variants accounting for more than 70 per cent of CRETA sales in 2025. Diesel-powered variants contributed 44 per cent of total sales during the year.
Powertrain Options and Market Position
The CRETA is currently offered with multiple powertrain options, including petrol and diesel engines, along with manual and automatic transmissions. Hyundai also offers the model in an electric version, expanding its presence across both internal combustion and EV segments.
With consistent volumes and a broad range of variants, the CRETA continues to be a key contributor to Hyundai Motor India’s overall sales performance in one of the country’s most competitive SUV segments.
