Bajaj Chetak C25: A Young, Simple Take on Electric Mobility

Electric scooters are becoming a common sight on Indian roads, and one of the first electric two-wheelers to kick off the year is the Chetak C25. Positioned as a simple, urban-friendly scooter, it is aimed at college students, young professionals, and buyers looking for a no-fuss EV for daily use.

Familiar Design, Younger Appeal

The Chetak C25 continues with the brand’s curvy, retro-inspired design language, but this version feels noticeably more youthful. Compared to earlier Chetak models, the styling is cleaner and more modern, without losing its identity.

A shorter 1,225 mm wheelbase gives the scooter a compact stance, making it look tighter and easier to manage in traffic.

The Chetak C25 remains the only electric scooter with an all-metal body, a key differentiator in a segment dominated by plastic panels. Lighting is fully LED, with the signature horseshoe DRL at the front.

At the rear, the ice-cube-style tail-lamps add visual flair, especially when braking, where the effect becomes more prominent.

The scooter is offered in six colour options:
Active Black, Racing Red, Classic White, Ocean Teal (Matte), Opalescent Silver, and Misty Yellow.

Practicality comes from a 25-litre under-seat storage, large enough to hold a full-face helmet or daily essentials.

Features That Focus on Basics

The feature list isn’t extensive, but it covers everyday needs. You get a colour LCD display, Eco and Sport riding modes, hill-hold assist, reverse mode, call and music controls, and guide-me-home lights. Everything works smoothly, even if it doesn’t push boundaries.

Approachable Ergonomics

With a seat height of 763 mm and a kerb weight of just 108 kg, the Chetak C25 is one of the most approachable electric scooters available. Manoeuvring it in tight spaces or traffic feels easy and unintimidating.

Performance and Ride Quality

Power comes from a 2.5 kWh battery, producing 3 bhp, with a top speed of 55 kmph and a claimed range of 113 km. While outright performance is modest, the scooter feels torquey enough for city use.

Thanks to the short wheelbase, it feels nimble through corners. Suspension handles rough roads reasonably well, and the 170 mm ground clearance is sufficient for everyday riding. Braking is confidence-inspiring, with a front disc brake on offer.

The included 750W charger takes about 2.5 hours (0–80%) and 3 hours 45 minutes (0–100%).

Verdict

Priced at ₹91,399, the Chetak C25 makes sense if you value retro design, solid build quality, and a relaxed riding experience. However, rivals offer more range and performance at a similar price.

If you’re buying with your heart rather than chasing specs, the Chetak C25 still has its charm.
